Replacement bins and caddies
We strongly recommend that you only put your bins out on the morning of collection, for 6.30am. Doing this lowers the risk of having your bin contaminated, stolen or vandalised.
Request a replacement bin or caddy
If your bin is damaged and has, for example, a broken lid, broken wheels, you can:
However, if your bin or caddy is damaged beyond repair, or stolen, you will need to:
- buy a replacement bin or caddy
The fee to replace a bin is £30 and there is a £5 charge for a replacement caddy.
There are no exemptions to the replacement bin and caddy charge, even if you have a crime number from the police or are in receipt of benefits.
Please note on the request if your existing bin or caddy is broken and if it needs removing. Please put a note or label on the broken item and leave it somewhere visible and accessible without blocking the road or pavement.

Depending how many requests we've had for new bins or caddies delivery can take up to 40 working days.

Other Circumstances
If you saw the caddy or bin fall into the vehicle, you will need to provide the rough time and date this happened so managers can check if it was captured on the vehicle cameras. We can only accept these requests up to 3 days after the initial collection date. Please phone 0191 2787878 and ask for "Your Local Services" so advisors can check the witness details and pass to managers.
If you live in a high occupancy property like a student house share, please phone 0191 2787878 and ask for "Your Local Services." Staff will need to clarify with you the occupancy and any other related or special circumstances. These requests can only be done over the phone and speaking to an advisor.
