Coronavirus (COVID-19)
Public Health - SPOC Notification
Reporting Cases of Infectious Disease
Providers no longer need to routinely report cases of COVID-19 or other infectious diseases to the Local Authority SPOC.
Instead, you should report to the UKHSA North East Health Protection Team – 0300 303 8596
You should only notify the Local Authority by exception, in the following circumstances: -
- Reporting a death/hospitalisation – care homes
- Business continuity issues related to staffing in Health & Social Care or where the numbers of affected residents and service users creates an operational risk.
- Politically sensitive
- Community tensions
- Media attention
If you need to notify the Local Authority, please complete our SPOC Form
The dutyspoc@newcastle.gov.uk e-mail is for settings to use should they have any specific queries regarding health protection matters or any other public health concerns. The Duty SPOC inbox will be available Monday to Friday 9.00am – 5.00pm, whereby you can expect a same day response from a public health specialist.
