Changes to 'Permitted Development' Rights for Householders
Permitted Development rights relating to household development are changing. From 1st October 2008 new legislation will be introduced by central government aimed at making development rights more straight forward and easier to understand.
The full extent of the changes are available to view on the Planning Portal website at: http://www.planningportal.gov.uk/england/genpub/en/
What are 'Permitted Development' Rights?
They are the right to make certain types of minor alterations without needing to apply for planning permission. They derive from a general planning permission granted not by the local authority but by Parliament.
