Defective Ticket Machines

Defective Ticket Machines

If a ticket machine is out of order, you should use an alternative ticket machine within the same car park (if applicable). Where the car park has only one ticket machine please use PayByPhone for this location. Payment by mobile phone is available in all city centre Council operated car parks, with the service introduced at selected on-street areas from Monday 19 September 2016. Details of cashless parking by mobile phone can be found here.

To report a defective ticket machine, please contact The Customer Response Team on 0191 278 7799 and quote the location and machine reference number.

Issues using coin

If you lose money in a machine or do not get credited with the paid for time and wish to claim a refund or report a defective machine please complete the online form available here.  This form will enable us to collect all the required information to process your refund request and allow you to attach a scanned image of any supporting evidence, such as a pay and display ticket.

Please include your contact details and all details of the date, time and location of payment so this can be verified. If you received a pay and display ticket, please enclose a copy or scan of this document as supporting evidence.
