Writing: Making Your Mark, illustrated talk with British Library Curator Adrian Edwards, City Library, Thursday 1st August, 2pm, Room 1 & 2, Level 2

Time: 01/08/2019
Writing is an amazing invention, and is the subject of both a major exhibition at the British Library in London and a display at Newcastle City Library. In this illustrated talk, British Library curator Adrian Edwards considers the background to the exhibition in London and explores a dozen of his favourite objects, ranging from ancient Maya glyphs carved in stone, to the handwritten notes of Florence Nightingale and a people’s petition from Bengal. He also considers what the future might hold for this amazing 5000-year-old invention.
