Newcastle Waste Strategy

Cllr Kemp
No time to waste

Members, residents and businesses are being asked their opinions on a draft waste strategy for Newcastle. The Council wants to hear what people think about a strategy that will shape how the city deals with waste over the next 15 years.

We have set up an online questionnaire featured on Let’s Talk Newcastle and will be asking focus groups their opinions. The consultation is the next step on a journey that will make Newcastle a clean, green and sustainable city that wastes less and recycles more.

This second stage of consultation runs until 31 October.

This next stage is to provide some further information on what is already being done or planned and to consult in more detail so that the Waste Strategy and the supporting Action Plan deliver the outcomes. To do this we are seeking views on some key areas under the different themes.
•         Behaviour Change and Education
•         Waste prevention including reuse
•         Food waste
•         Recycling and composting
•         Operations
•         Planning
•         Recovering value - Markets and Technology
•         Enforcement
•         Partnerships, public and private
