Tyne & Wear Archives & Museums is recruiting a small pool of experienced individuals to our casual learning register.

We are looking for inventive and creative workshop facilitators, who have experience working with a range of learning groups and who can adapt to facilitate learning across a wide range of subject content, particularly Art, History and Science. Although your strength may be in one of these areas, your expertise will be in presenting creative, dynamic and inspiring learning opportunities to a wide range of people. An interest in museum collections is essential.

Gallery Interpreters are involved in the delivery of events and activities devised by learning teams in various TWAM venues

Casual Assistant Learning Officers will be involved in the delivery, development and planning of events and activities across the venues which may be for specific short-term or funded projects.

Experience working with children is essential as well as effective written and verbal communication skills. Those successful will provide excellent customer service for all visitors to our museums. You will be responsible for the development and delivery of learning sessions and will assist staff in promoting the learning offer in our venues.

Applicants must specify which roles they wish to apply for on their personal statement. Successful Assistant Learning Officer candidates would also be able to work as a Gallery Interpreter.

.

Sessions can take place at weekends, bank holidays as well as weekdays (typically during core working hours of 9am-5pm).

Appointments to the Learning Casual Register will be subject to an enhanced DBS check.

We are committed to protecting and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expect all staff to share this commitment. This post is working in regulated activity. If you are successful we will undertake additional recruitment checks which will include a check to see if you have had any criminal convictions, a check of police information and we will check the barred list(s). It is a criminal offence for a barred individual to apply for a job in regulated activity.

As this post involves working with children, vulnerable adults or dealing with sensitive information, written references will be taken up and made available to interviewers before the final selection stage; even if you indicate otherwise.

For an informal discussion on the roles, please contact the TWAM learning team by email at learning@twmuseums.org.uk.
