Based at West Road Cemetery and Crematorium, Fenham, Newcastle upon Tyne.

An opportunity has arisen for this important role that focusses on providing a high quality services for the bereaved through the provision of well presented cemeteries and accurately prepared graves.

The job is mainly outdoors, working across ten cemeteries and will involve; Driving with a trailer, the use of excavators, dumpers, vans and specialist grave shoring equipment as well as manual work as required by the various tasks to maintain the cemetery environment to a high standard. The role will also require regular working in the office environment to assist with cemetery administration of burials and cremations and also occasionally at the crematorium to assist other parts of the team.

We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic, is flexible with regard to allocated tasks, responsible and accurate. You must be able to blend quickly with the existing team, and have the skills required to undertake all the tasks required proficiently and with the minimum of supervision. The nature of the work requires a personality that recognises and understands the feelings and expectations of recently bereaved people and can balance this with the requirements of the service.
