Fixed term for 1 year, 1 September 2020 until 31 August 2021.

The Governors of Archbishop Runcie Church of England VA First School wish to appoint outstanding Class Teachers for KS1 or 2. Full NQT support can be provided, if appropriate).

As we are able to move our current staff to different year groups, there is the opportunity to work in Years 1, 2 or 3. Please state which year groups you are applying for, in order of preference.

We are a welcoming church school with happy, highly motivated children. We have exceptional expectations of ourselves and the children. Parents are highly engaged with the school’s work. This post is suitable for either experienced or newly qualified teachers.

This is a wonderful opportunity to be part of a genuinely loving and caring school. We are looking for teachers who care deeply and are passionate for children and their learning, who can build very strong relationships with pupils and their families, and who are willing to go the extra mile to make a difference to our local community.

As a small school, we work very closely together so being a ‘team player’ is essential and an open and honest approach is vital. Because of our broad, balanced and ambitious curriculum, strong subject knowledge is also crucial. Any specialist subject knowledge (e.g. Music or Science) would be advantageous.

We want to grow aspiring leaders with their own drive, ambition and ideas balanced with modesty, emotional intelligence and empathy.

The successful candidates will:

• have high expectations of children's attitudes, achievements and behaviour

• be caring, empathetic and loving to children, staff, families and our community

• consistently go the extra mile for the good of our children

• be willing to ‘muck in’ - we are a small school!

• have evidence of meaningful classroom impact

• work positively with parents and families

• be willing to participate in all aspects of school life.

Candidates are welcome to make an appointment to look around the school by phoning Mrs Pygall, our Admin Officer, on the school number. Due to current circumstances, this is optional and candidates will not be disadvantaged if they are not able to visit prior to application.

Application forms are available on the school website and returnable electronically to admin@archbishop.newcastle.sch.uk FAO Mrs K Massey by 12 noon on Friday 1 May. Longlisted candidates will be allocated a visit to the school, prior to interview, for a lesson observation during May.

Shortlisted applicants will be required for a rolling programme of interviews from Wednesday 20 May onwards until all posts are filled. Applications will be considered as they are received.

The successful applicants will need to work (paid or supply costs paid) during the last week of term to ensure a comprehensive and nurturing handover and induction for the benefit of our children.

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, these dates and timescale are subject to change. If necessary, we will contact you directly if circumstances change.

Archbishop Runcie CE (VA) First School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children; we expect all staff and volunteers to share this firm commitment. As such, an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check will be undertaken alongside other relevant employment checks deemed appropriate.

As this post involves working with children, vulnerable adults or dealing with sensitive information, written references will be taken up and made available to interviewers before the final selection stage; even if you indicate otherwise.

We look forward to receiving your applications.
