£24,294 - £25,119 pro rata, per annum (Actual salary £9,849 per annum for 15 hpw)

City Operations, Neighbourhoods and Regulatory Services Directorate

Facility Operations

15 Hours per week, 06.00am - 09:00am Monday to Friday.

Pro rata salary of £9849 per annum. (Pay award pending)

An opportunity exists for a suitable individual to work within the Facility Services Division of Operations and Regulatory Services Directorate as a Cleaner Supervisor at the Cowgate and Blakelaw Sure Start and Childrens Centre.

To succeed in this role, it is essential that you have:

  • good communications skills,
  • the ability to work with limited supervision,
  • be hands on,
  • be capable of regular stooping, bending, lifting and carrying of equipment and materials.
  • Experience managing teams in a school or similar child centred environment would be an advantage.

Facility Services and Civic Management work across the city and Gateshead providing building cleaning, caretaking, school meals and welfare catering services.

We have a large team of cleaners, cleaner supervisors, facility supervisors (caretakers), catering assistants, assistant chef’s and chef’s working various hours and shifts in schools and public buildings.

What we are looking for

We are currently looking for reliable and friendly people with a positive attitude to join our team as a Cleaner Supervisor at Cowgate and Blakelaw Sure Start and Childrens Centre..

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has well developed interpersonal skills and is capable of working effectively with and leading our cleaning colleagues.
  • Has a flexible approach to work, hours and locations.
  • Is capable of regular stooping, bending, lifting and carrying.
  • Is a team player but able to use your own initiative.
  • Can have good relationships with others.
  • Is self-motivated and able to work to fixed deadlines.
  • Is customer focused.
  • Can deliver cleaning to the required standards
  • Is suitable to work with children and young people
  • Is able to undertake written and spoken instructions and speak English.

There will be a responsibility for the supervision of cleaning staff and designated cleaning areas.

You will be expected to be able to deal with varying workloads and the cleaning of a defined area. You must be able to manage your own time.

To work in our busy Childrens centre, you must be enthusiastic, hardworking and able to forge positive relationships with our client, centre staff, children and parents. We are looking for a positive, hardworking individual with a strong commitment to high standards of service delivery and customer care.
