We are currently looking to recruit a full time Fire Safety Officer on a fixed term 1 year contract. The post holder will work as part of the Council’s Corporate H&S function.

The post holders will be required to work from home, with a future blend of office-based work in the Civic Centre, Newcastle. The post will involve travel to and from sites.

The Council’s has a large operational property portfolio encompassing a wide variety and complexity of buildings. The successful candidate will be involved in carrying out fire risk and DSEAR assessments and producing prioritised reports for these buildings as part of a prioritised fire risk assessment programme. The successful candidate will also be expected to coach and mentor other members of the H&S Team to build their fire risk assessment knowledge and contribute to the Council’s Corporate approach on fire safety management.

The successful candidate should have recent experience in conducting fire risk assessments across a wide variety of buildings, ideally encompassing higher risk buildings. They should hold an appropriate L3 qualification in Fire risk assessment such as the NEBOSH Fire Safety Certificate or appropriate alternative.
