£32,020 - £35,411 per annum (pro rata for part time hours)

We are currently looking to recruit a permanent Fire Safety Officer. The post holder will work as part of a friendly team in the Council’s Corporate H&S function.

The post offers flexible and hybrid working, from home and based in the office at the Civic Centre, Newcastle. The post will involve travel to and from sites typically within the Newcastle area. Less than full time hours will be considered.

The Council has a large operational property portfolio encompassing a wide variety and complexity of buildings. The successful candidate will be involved in carrying out fire and DSEAR risk assessments and producing reports for these buildings, as part of a prioritised fire risk assessment programme. The successful candidate will also be expected to deliver fire safety training to internal and external clients and coach and mentor other members of the H&S Team to build their fire risk assessment knowledge and contribute to the Council’s Corporate approach on fire safety management.

The successful candidate should have recent experience in conducting fire risk assessments across a wide variety of buildings, ideally encompassing higher risk buildings. They should hold a minimum of an NVQ L3 qualification in Fire risk assessment or fire safety audits.
