Public Health Analyst: Suicide Prevention

Newcastle City Council is seeking to appoint an analyst to work on a suicide prevention project. This post will be a fixed terms contract for 9 months. Interviews will take place week commencing 4 November 2019.

The post will sit within Newcastle City Councils Public Health team but will work to support the North Integrated Care Partnership (ICP) Suicide Prevention Coordinator. The role will work to support the suicide prevention agenda across the North ICP area and across the 6 local authority areas.

Although this is quite a challenging subject matters, it is an opportunity to work on a specific project to try to help areas understand what is happening in terms of suicides through the development of a robust population level surveillance system.

A key part of the role will be to develop a robust information system/database in conjunction with the Suicide prevention coordinator, which will capture data and information on suspected suicides across the 6 Local Authority areas. You will also be required to then analyses, interoperate and present this information to a range of different stakeholders at both a local and regionally level.

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic environment with a wide range of partners across the region including Public Health, Local Authorities, the Police, CCG’s and Community and Voluntary Sector.

You will also need excellent oral and written communication skills, and the ability to present complex and often challenging and emotive subject matter to a wide range of audiences in ways that are accessible, meaningful and appropriate for use.
