Revenue, Benefits & Exchequer

Full and part time positions up to 37 hours per week

Newcastle City Council Revenues, Benefits & Exchequer Team has undergone major transformation and we are implementing new and leaner operating models supported by digital and online solutions and we are looking to recruit and we are looking to recruit officers to join our successful and dynamic team.

As a Revenues Officer you will be responsible for billing, collection, and recovery of council tax.

This includes processing changes of address, applying discounts reliefs and exemptions, verifying and processing refunds and dealing with general council tax account maintenance. You will need to learn and understand relevant legislation to be able to do this.

You will deal with phone calls from customers, property owners, managing agents and other third parties to deal with council tax enquiries and you will also negotiate and set up payment arrangements.

You will also require excellent communication skills and the ability to process high volumes of work accurately within prescribed deadlines.

If you are enthusiastic, have the necessary skills and experience to join our team and are dedicated to continuous improvement, we would like to hear from you.

Once training has taken place there is an expectation that you will be working from home for most of the time.

Interviews will be conducted by using ‘Teams’

Apply online at www.northeastjobs.org.uk, select 'Apply Now' and complete our online application form.

If you are successful we will undertake additional recruitment checks which will include a check to see if you have any unspent criminal convictions.

As this post involves working with children, vulnerable adults or dealing with sensitive information, written references will be taken up and made available to interviewers before the final selection stage; even if you indicate otherwise.
