Educational Psychology Service

Applications are welcome from colleagues wishing to work either full time or part time

Two of our most recently appointed Educational Psychologists have said that they enjoy working in Newcastle because…

• “I have the flexibility and freedom to use a variety of psychological approaches across my work and opportunities to develop specific interests and skills”.

• “It’s a really friendly and eclectic team who have a broad range of experience and skills and who are always approachable and supportive”.

• “There is a diversity of work across different settings and lots of opportunities for traded and systemic work”

• “There is support and encouragement from management and peers to develop my practice, ethically, psychologically and meaningfully”.

If this sounds like a service you would like to join, then we invite you to apply for the post below…

Through the work of the Kaleidrascope project, Newcastle EPS has a long history of undertaking specialist work with international new arrivals (INA) to the City, both asylum seekers and refugee children and children from families who are economic migrants. The successful candidate will coordinate this work within the EPS and take a lead role across the People Directorate and at a cross Council level; working at a strategic level to promote the successful inclusion of all INA children.

Please note that in the future, the role of the Specialist Senior may change according to funding arrangements and the needs of the Education and Skills Division.

Applications are welcome from EPs with at least five years maingrade experience.

The successful candidate will join a highly regarded team, currently consisting of 12.4 FTE EPs. The Service is currently developing an action plan based on a PATH analysis of our strengths and aims for the future. The plan is focused on widening the potential impact of educational psychology within the People Directorate and has given greater scope for all EPs to focus on an area of personal interest. The Service has good links with Newcastle University and currently hosts two doctoral trainees.
