THE ROLE: Newcastle City Council are looking to recruit individuals or families to the role of Supported Lodgings Carer, specifically for unaccompanied asylum-seeking minors. Could you offer a young person between 16-21 accommodation and help them build their independence skills?

We welcome enquiries from anyone who has the willingness and enthusiasm to change a child’s life for the better, teach the necessary skills to live independently and are focused and resilient in their determination to create better lives for young people. Providing supported lodgings for an asylum-seeking child or young person requires cultural sensitivity and an understanding that they will likely face barriers other children in care do not face.

Previous experience of working with children is desirable but not essential. We recruit suitable candidates from within a 50-mile radius of the city.

A young person may live with you on a short-term basis or up to two years.

We provide you with a high-quality package of support and training to undertake the role.
