Headteacher: Mrs KE Massey.

The Governors of Archbishop Runcie Church of England VA First School wish to appoint a class teacher, fixed term, from as soon as possible until 31st August 2022. Full NQT support can be provided, if appropriate.

We are a welcoming church school with happy and highly-motivated children. We have exceptional expectations of ourselves and the children, providing them an ambitious, broad and balanced curriculum that stretches children to be the best that they can be. Parents are highly engaged with the school’s work. This post is suitable for either experienced or newly qualified teachers. The role is fixed term until the end of summer term 2022.

This is a wonderful opportunity to be part of a genuinely loving and caring school. We are looking for a teacher who care deeply and is passionate for children and their learning, who can build very strong relationships with pupils and their families, and who are willing to go the extra mile to make a difference to our local community.

We are looking for an ambitious and meticulous team member who will go the extra mile for the benefit of the school community. As a small school, we work very closely together so being a ‘team player’ is essential and an open and honest approach is vital.

Because of our broad, balanced and ambitious curriculum, strong subject knowledge is also crucial. Any specialist subject knowledge (e.g. Music, Art or Computing) would be advantageous. Candidates need not have direct experience but must be able to articulate and evidence their deep understanding of all subject areas within the first school age-range. Knowledge of recent educational research is also advantageous.

We want to grow aspiring leaders with their own drive, ambition and ideas balanced with modesty, emotional intelligence and empathy.

The successful candidates will:

• have high expectations of children's attitudes, achievements and behaviour

• have excellent and deep subject knowledge across the first school age range

• be caring, empathetic and loving to children, staff, families and our community

• consistently go the extra mile for the good of our children

• be willing to ‘muck in’ - we are a small school!

• have evidence of meaningful classroom impact

• work positively with parents and families

• be willing to participate in all aspects of school life.

We are aiming to appoint the right candidate to start in post as soon as possible; therefore, applications will be considered as they are received.

Application packs can be downloaded from the school website (https://archbishop-runcie.eschools.co.uk/website). Completed applications should be accompanied by a covering letter and sent electronically directly to Mrs Massey, Head Teacher, via email (kate.massey@archbishop.newcastle.sch.uk) by 12 noon on Friday 5th November 2021. CVs will not be accepted.

Please note that we will be considering applications upon receipt and inviting shortlisted candidates to interviews, on a rolling basis. If a successful appointment is made before 5th November, the advert will close and no further applications will be considered. The school website will be updated if the status of the advert changes.

Archbishop Runcie CE (VA) First School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children; we expect all staff and volunteers to share this firm commitment. As such, an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check will be undertaken alongside other relevant employment checks deemed appropriate.

Longlisted candidates will be asked to submit a short recorded task. Shortlisted candidates will then be invited to undertake a range of tasks and a formal interview at a later date. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, these dates and timescale are subject to change. If necessary, we will contact you directly.

We welcome applications from all sections of the community, regardless of gender, race, religion, disability, sexual orientation or age. We look forward to receiving your applications.
