Improving road safety

We’re making Newcastle one of the safest and easiest cities to get around for people on foot, on bike, by public transport and by car.

A key part of our plans is addressing road safety on major junctions and in residential neighbourhoods.

We’re investing over £16m as part of our Cycle City Ambition Fund to improve cycle facilities across the city and embed cycling facilities in all new infrastructure projects, You can read more here (insert link to CCAF)

We’re working with local residents through our Streets for People Project to help people make more local journeys on foot or by bike. This includes safe routes for children so they can walk, scoot or cycle to school.

We’re also asking residents for their view on where new cycling and walking routes are needed so we can plan for new developments.
