Alternative fuel payment

Alternative fuel payment

The government is offering two schemes which provide funding to people who do not have a direct contract with an energy supplier and are therefore not eligible for the current Energy Bill Support Scheme.

Energy Bills Support Scheme Alternative Funding (EBSS AF)

This scheme is providing support of £400 for energy bills for households without a direct relationship to a domestic electricity supplier. This includes, for example, care home residents (wholly or partly self funded) or those living in properties with energy costs paid to a commercial landlord.

The scheme was open until 31 May 2023 and has now closed.

How to apply for this scheme

If you are eligible for EBSS AF, you will need to complete an online form via the GOV.UK website

Applications are made directly to the Government, not to or via Local Authorities.

If you do not have online access, you can apply via a contact centre on 0808 175 3287.

The payment will be made directly into your bank account in a single instalment.
