The Newcastle City Council Leader has appointed a new Cabinet Member to his top team.
Joining the Cabinet is Cllr Marion Williams who will take on the portfolio of Connected, Clean City.
Cllr Williams, a Blakelaw councillor, has been Chair of the Planning Committee for the past two years.
Cllr Williams said: “I welcome this opportunity to join the Cabinet and take on a vitally important portfolio to the city.
“I am looking forward to getting to work with my Cabinet colleagues and I hope my experience as councillor and my work away from the council will be of great benefit to the city.”
Away from her work with the council, Cllr Williams has a background working in education, environmental planning and was Director of Edinburgh Civic Trust for many years.
Cllr Nick Kemp, Newcastle City Council Leader, said: “I welcome Cllr Williams to the team and I speak on behalf of my Cabinet when I say we are looking forward to working with her on our ambitious plans for the city.
“We are committed to ensuring we do the best job for the residents of this city and focusing on our clear priorities of shielding people from the worst effects of the cost of living crisis, tackling poverty and net zero.
“This appointment continues to ensure we have an experienced and committed Cabinet to deliver on these priorities and keep residents at the heart of everything we do.”
