Tackling ASB in Blakelaw sees positive results

We’re proud of the great work we are doing to tackle anti-social behaviour in Blakelaw.

The area has seen an increase in ASB, including motorcycle disorder, graffiti and criminal damage.

We are aware of the detrimental impact this type of behaviour can have on our communities, so we took action and have seen some great results.

Together with partners we have:

  • Deployed street wardens in the area
  • Installed three new CCTV cameras
  • Increased police patrols
  • Conducted numerous site visits
  • Several youths have been arrested and referred to the Early Help and Children’s Safeguarding Unit where they received extra support
  • Enrolled several youths into a fire setters intervention programme
  • Victims received support from our Victim Support Scheme
  • Held a number of community engagement activities

If ASB is affecting your life and your community, you don’t have to cope on your own.

Let’s work together to make our communities safer.

Anybody affected by ASB is asked to report it via the ‘Tell Us Something’ page of Northumbria Police’s website.

In an emergency, or if a crime is taking place, always ring 999.
