Community Engagement - Ward Committees

Community Engagement - Ward Committees

The council is composed of 78 councillors, 3 per ward, who are democratically elected and accountable to residents. Each ward has a Ward Committee made up of the three elected members for that ward. Councillors work with local people and partners, such as community groups, businesses and local organisations to agree and deliver on local priorities. Their decisions are implemented by council officers , who deliver services to the city on a daily basis.

Each year locally elected Ward Councillors can host an annual ward meeting to meet with residents, share information about local activities and services and talk about local priorities. Everyone is welcome to attend ward committee meetings.

Even if you don't come to the meeting your views matter to us and we are keen to hear from as many residents as possible so we are collecting information on local priorities throughout the year.  You can complete this survey at any point in the year to help your ward councillors and Newcastle City Council understand what matters to people within their neighbourhood.

The information collected will tell us what is good about a place and what could be better and allow you to tell us what is most important to you. Complete our local priorities survey here.

If you are going to attend one of our local meetings you can access additional information a week before the meeting here (look for the name of your ward). We will also publish updates following the meeting so you will be able to see information on what was discussed and what local priorities were agreed.
