Property Available for Community Asset Transfer

Expressions of interest are invited from Voluntary or Community Organisations interested in taking on an asset transfer of the following buildings:

250 Philip Street and 231 Stanton Street, Arthur's Hill, Newcastle

This property is a three storey end terraced property that was formerly a shop and residential accommodation. It has an approximate area of 185 sq m. The Council own it on a long lease that expires in 2079 and it has been used for a variety of community purposes since 1980.

The Council is seeking expressions of interest for this property from groups who would be able to take a lease of it and manage it for the benefit of the local community. There are a number of groups who would be interested in using rooms here that would support this function.

Interested parties should complete the initial expression of interest form. The attached form can be downloaded and saved to your computer. Please send your completed form to andy.bloomfield@newcastle.gov.uk for consideration.

Brunswick Centre.

Westfield Ave, Brunswick Village, Newcastle upon Tyne NE13 7EG

This centre was constructed in 2010 to provide Surestart and community provision, and changing rooms. The Council is seeking expressions of interest for an asset transfer of the area outlined in red on the attached plans with rights to use the car park shown in blue. The changing rooms are excluded from any transfer.

The intention is that the property would be leased to the successful party and the lease would make the tenant responsible for all repairs and outgoings associated with the leased area. Some previous cost figures are provided for information.

The building is part of the Central Community Family Hub, delivering services to families in the Central area of the city, and the expectation is the asset transfer would benefit the local community and provide or support access to childcare or integrated family support/health support in line with its previous use.

Interested parties should complete the expression of interest form. The attached form can be downloaded and saved to your computer. Please send your completed form and the supporting documents listed in part 6 of the form to andy.bloomfield@newcastle.gov.uk by 23rd March 2020 for consideration.
