Newcastle and Gateshead Clean Air Zone

A clean air zone (CAZ) is now in place for parts of Newcastle and Gateshead to:

• help improve air quality
• reduce the number of high polluting vehicles using our roads

In Newcastle the clean air zone covers:

• the city centre
• routes over the River Tyne, including the Swing, High Level and Redheugh bridges

Not all vehicles are affected. You will not be charged if you are driving a:

• private car
• motorbike
• vehicle that meets minimum emissions standards
