White Ribbon FAQs

What is White Ribbon about?

White Ribbon UK is part of a global movement to end male violence against women.  They encourage men and boys to make a stand against violence and have a mission for all men to fulfil the White Ribbon (WR) Promise.  White Ribbon Promise: To never commit, excuse or remain silent about male violence against women.  Find out more here

How can I get involved?

The easiest way to get involved is by making the White Ribbon Promise but if you would like to do more there are other things you can do. Below are some of the different ways that individuals, groups and businesses can get involved in White Ribbon UK.

White Ribbon Ambassadors and Champions: Male volunteers are called Ambassadors. Their role is to engage with other men and boys to call out abusive and sexist behaviour and promote a culture of equality and respect to help end violence against women.  Female volunteers are known as Champions. They encourage and inspire men and boys to say no to violence against women.  Find out more here

White Ribbon Youth Advocates: This programme works with young people, and young men specifically, from the age of 14 to 18, who want to act as role models among their friends to support the WR campaign to end male violence against women.  Find out more here.

White Ribbon Accreditation: This programme helps businesses and organisations take a strategic approach to ending male violence against women. Achieving accreditation helps organisations make a difference in their local communities, improve organisational culture, increase staff knowledge and skills to address violence against women and improves their reputation and customer experience.  Find out more here.
