An exciting opportunity has arisen to join St Cuthbert’s Catholic High School as Assistant Head: Pastoral. For over one hundred and forty years, St Cuthbert’s has been nurturing fine young men, preparing them to take their rightful place in the Church and in the world. We have provided our pupils and students with a challenging yet supportive environment within which to discover and develop their own God-given gifts.

The St Cuthbert’s experience is so much more than a comprehensive education. We strive to challenge our pupils to become young men of integrity, educated in faith and for justice. In keeping with the finest traditions of Catholic education, we strive to form young men of competence, conscience, compassion, and commitment.

We are seeking a conscientious and committed colleague to contribute to the continuing development of St Cuthbert’s Catholic High School. The successful candidate will have a highly robust and detailed understanding of all aspects of securing exemplary behaviour and attitudes in a secondary school context. We are seeking a colleague with demonstrable experience of improving pastoral care and behaviour and attitudes in their current setting, experience that they will readily be able to transfer to St Cuthbert's and align it with our vision, mission, and values.

As Assistant Head: Pastoral, you will work with the Deputy Head: Pastoral and Assistant Head: Safeguarding and Welfare to ensure the provision of the highest quality pastoral care and an exemplary standard of behaviour. You will encourage excellence and aspiration. You will encourage our pupils to accept responsibility for their learning and help to meet the diverse needs of our boys. Above all, we are seeking a leader who will help our boys to become great men.

This role may suit an experienced Head of Department, Head of Year, or pastoral leader with considerable experience in pastoral care or indeed an established senior leader looking for a new challenge. This is a unique opportunity requiring the energy and vision to improve outcomes for our boys.

We shall appoint a leader who has vision, passion, and energy. A leader who is not afraid of change and is always looking for ways in which the school can improve. All senior leaders at St Cuthbert's are passionate about our school and committed to rigorously promoting and upholding the vision of forming great men. The successful candidate will be deeply committed to their own development and keen to take on new challenges and move beyond their comfort zone. The successful applicant will be an outstanding teacher, who can analyse educational developments, determine what is appropriate for our pupils, students and staff, and successfully implement change.
