The Governors of our welcoming and inclusive Church of England First School are seeking to appoint a passionate Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo) to join our school family. This is an exciting opportunity to join an ambitious staff team to support curriculum adaptations in order to meet the needs of our most vulnerable children. The role will involve working closely with our families to achieve the very best for our children.

Our warm relationships and restorative approach to behaviour is a key feature of our school.
As our SENCO, you'll be an outstanding, experienced teacher with a passion for supporting pupils with special educational needs. Working closely with the head teacher and other senior colleagues, you'll use your leadership skills to manage provision in our school and to provide support to other teachers and staff.
Your responsibilities will include designing and delivering interventions with pupils in the classroom and developing and implementing a whole school approach to SEND provision. You will also have classroom teaching duties which will be agreed in discussion with the successful candidate.
We are looking for a class teacher with a personal drive to work closely with the Senior and Middle Leaders and who, alongside their class teacher role, will:

<li>Act as SENCo and, therefore, must either hold, or be willing to work towards, Masters-level National Award for Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator, over the next three years, this will be supported by the school</li>
<li>Model good practice and leads by example with integrity, positivity, resilience and clarity and with experience of developing and coaching colleagues</li>
<li>Strive for ambitious standards and high expectations for all pupils</li>
<li>Be forward thinking, passionate and committed to enabling high quality learning experiences for all</li>
<li>Have experience of monitoring and evaluating teaching and learning, analysing data and target setting</li>
<li>Effectively manage behaviour and relationships with others to provide appropriate support and challenge</li>
<li>Promote and uphold the strong Christian ethos of the school</li>
<li>Enhance the calm and purposeful learning environment that we have created</li>
<li>Balance the demands of being a teacher with those of being a leader. </li>

The process for recruitment will be that long listed candidates will be visited by Mrs Massey, Headteacher, and Alison Stephenson, School Improvement Partner, to observe their teaching in their current school on 6th March 2024, at an agreed time. Short listed candidates will then be invited to the interview day on Monday 18th March 2024 for tasks and formal interviews.
