1x 18.5 hour post

The successful candidates will join a positively regarded team, currently consisting of the Service Manager and Deputy Manager, 13.7 FTE EPs (including two Specialist Senior EPs), two doctoral trainee EPs and three Assistant EPs The service is highly valued by schools and settings and all Educational Psychologists are involved in a range of preventative and early intervention work as well as undertaking statutory duties. The Local Authority is committed to the delivery of core (non - statutory / non - traded) work focusing on a range of cross LA and school priorities, which has led to the development of new and innovative ways of working. All Educational Psychologists in the team have the opportunity to develop specialisms and areas of interest. The EPS is well positioned within the Local Authority and is engaged in strategic level work across the Education and Skills division and the wider Children and Families directorate. There are very close working relationships with other SEN services and excellent links with the Newcastle University doctoral training course.

Applications are welcome both from fully qualified colleagues and doctoral trainee EPs who are currently in either Year 2 or Year 3 of their course. Flexible working arrangements are available including term time only working.

Two of our most recently appointed Educational Psychologists have said:

It has been fantastic to become part of an enthusiastic and supportive team, where psychology is at the centre of everything we do. I appreciate the opportunities for varied work through their Core Offer and I can work autonomously and creatively within this.

Since starting at Newcastle, I have engaged in a range of work, with diverse populations. I’ve found there is always someone in the team there to bounce ideas off or to help me figure out tricky situations., As such I have felt supported enough to challenge myself professionally and continue to explore new areas and learn new skills.

If this sounds like a service you would like to join, please feel free to contact Lara Lillico, Educational Psychology Service Manager or Andrew Scott, Deputy Educational Psychology Service Manager at lara.lillico@newcastle.gov.uk or Andrew.scott@newcastle.gov.uk to arrange an informal discussion.
