Newcastle City Council is seeking to appoint a Home Improvement Officer within our Care and Repair Newcastle (CARN) Service, part of the Fairer Housing Units’ Capital Programme team.

The successful applicants will work to support people to find the right solutions for them so they can retain and regain their independence and live successfully and safely in their own home. It is a rewarding role within a very busy service area, so the successful applicant will need to be an effective communicator with good problem-solving skills. The Home improvement Officer will work as part of the CARN team to ensure the delivery of home adaptations, processing disabled facilities grants, responding to customer concerns, queries and complaints as well providing information on housing options and property improvements.

We want individuals who are enthusiastic about helping people and have a strong track record of delivering excellent customer service, who are able to prioritise their workload to get the best outcomes. Experience of working of working with a range of partners is a must and a background of working with building surveyors or an understanding of building safety legislation or working in housing, health or care assessment environments would be a distinct advantage.
