About us:

Newcastle City Council works hard in various ways to make the city cleaner, greener and safer. Local Services and Waste Management are based in the bustling west end of Newcastle, with good transport links to the depot.

All of our staff are professional, fully trained and dedicated to giving our residents the best customer experience. Emptying bins and promoting and collecting recycling is one of our key services that is most visible to the public.

We collect general waste, recycling and - if paid for - garden and bulky waste from homes. We also offer a paid for commercial service for businesses.

Every year our crews empty almost 8 million bins from over 137000 domestic properties across alternating weekly collections. Teams also fix bins and deliver replacements to domestic and paying trade customers.

We also welcome thousands of residents to our three recycling centres across the city. Our Waste and Recycling Engagement Team also operate from this depot and they work hard to boost awareness of waste management and the importance of recycling. Our Local Services Teams work hard to make sure Newcastle is place we all want to live in, work in and visit. We clean public areas of rubbish throughout the city. We also respond to reports of litter, graffiti and fly-tipping on Council property as well as providing and emptying public litter bins.

Local Services is a forward thinking division and we support apprentice work and staff development.
