Newcastle City Council’s Fostering Service, Foster a Future, is a busy and dynamic service that needs resilient, nurturing and skilled foster carers to care for a wide range of looked after children and young people. We are therefore seeking to recruit a Recruitment and Engagement officer, which ideally will be someone who has marketing skills and experience and a good understanding the needs of the service.

If successful, you will work within the fostering service alongside fostering social workers, placement social workers, foster carers and children’s social workers to ensure the profile of fostering remains high across the city.

You will work with our comms team to develop our recruitment strategy, targeting the recruitment of prospective foster carers. You will organise and implement a range of marketing and recruitment activities including digital advertising, social media, live chat and drop in events. You will be expected to manage, track and monitor enquiries in line with service timescales.

As part of the engagement role, you will meet regularly with foster carers, organise groups and support events and providing forums for foster carers to share their views to aid retention and assist with service development.

If you think you have the skills and experience needed for this post, we would be very happy to receive your application. If you have any questions about the post you can speak to Deborah Anderson, Lead Manager, on 0191 2772430.

We are committed to protecting and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expect all staff to share this commitment. This post is working in regulated activity. If you are successful we will undertake additional recruitment checks which will include a check to see if you have had any criminal convictions, a check of police information and we will check the barred list(s). It is a criminal offence for a barred individual to apply for a job in regulated activity.

As this post involves working with children, vulnerable adults or dealing with sensitive information, written references will be taken up and made available to interviewers before the final selection stage; even if you indicate otherwise.
