We are seeking to appoint Residential Child Care Officers on a casual basis to work in the authorities children’s homes based within Newcastle. The successful applicants will need to be resourceful, highly resilient with the ability to establish relationships quickly whilst working as part of a team towards agreed aims and objectives. Applicants must be able to demonstrate the ability to work with highly challenging behaviour and have a high level of resilience. We are committed to providing quality care and achieving positive outcomes for the young people we look after.

You will also be highly motivated, have good communication and IT skills and a clear understanding of needs of children and their families. Experience of residential care and an NVQ level 3 in children’s health and social care or above is essential for these posts. Applicants without this qualification will not be considered. The successful applicants will be required to work shifts including evening and weekend work and sleep-ins as required. Additional payments during unsociable hours are also applicable to this post.
