£47,420 - £51,515 per annum

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Public Health Practitioner to join our passionate and ambitious Public Health team within Newcastle City Council.

The successful candidate will supervise and enable planning of key elements of the Council’s statutory health protection responsibilities and other local priorities to protect our residents and reduce inequalities.

You will require demonstrable generic public health skills to drive improvements in specific lead areas of work to support a dynamic health protection function alongside some of the quality healthcare portfolio such as stop smoking services and Tobacco Control.

An excellent understanding and experience of health protection theory and practice, commissioning along with excellent analytical, influencing, and interpersonal skills will be beneficial.

You will work in partnership with relevant stakeholders and organisations within the local and regional health and care system across a great city that makes history and shapes the future.

This role will suit someone who is passionate about addressing health inequalities and keen to develop their experience of contributing to local, regional policy and strategy. You will be contributing to the overall aims of the public health department service plan and local authority priorities.

Applications are sought from individuals with a postgraduate qualification in Public Health or related field and broad knowledge of public health practice.
