We are seeking to appoint highly motivated, inspirational members of support staff to support young people in their education at our Kenton and Hospital Provisions of the school. The successful candidates with contribute to supporting some of the most vulnerable young people within the city and surrounding areas, striving to make a difference to their lives.
We would like to hear from candidates who feel that they can demonstrate the characteristics and skills we are looking for and hold the relevant qualifications to meet the demands of this post.
There are posts available in both our hospital provisions and in our Kenton site, details below:

The Great North Children’s Hospital has a team of teachers and support staff who teach young people who require a period of hospital stay to meet their medical needs. We teach from Reception to Year 11 and sometimes, beyond in special circumstances. The teaching is generally one to one with a teacher or with very small groups with a support assistant.

Ferndene is an inpatient hospital in Prudhoe for young people between the ages of 12-18 years old. It provides assessment and treatment for young people who have complex health, behavioural and emotional needs, including young people with a learning disability. Once again, the teaching is generally one to one with a teacher or with very small groups with a support assistant.

NBS Kenton is a small nurturing environment for secondary aged young people who have had difficulties in a mainstream school. Most young people have an EHCP, and/or difficulties with their social, emotional and mental health. Our class sizes are smaller than in mainstream schools, and we have a higher staff to young person ratio. LSA`s in Kenton provide in lesson support, deliver interventions and work with small groups of young people.

Newcastle Bridges School provides excellent educational opportunities to pupils whose education has been interrupted by mental or physical ill-health or school phobia. We seek to support each pupil’s access to a full-time, broad and balanced education appropriate to their potential and their educational needs and encourage reintegration into mainstream whenever relevant. Newcastle Bridges School was judged by Ofsted to be ‘outstanding’ (May 2022).
