What the role will involve -
The main role of a Trainee Building Control Surveyor is to assist in the duties, functions and implementation of legislation delivered by the building control service, assist with the handling of building regulation applications, primarily in initial processing and validation.
This is an apprenticeship role, where you will be learning on the job, combining vocational experience gained in the workplace with academic study, undertaking a building control surveying degree part time, on line / distance learning delivered through Wolverhampton University. You will occasionally be required to attend university in person, likely twice a year, for residential study week. Travel and accommodation expenses will be covered.
Over time, you will have the opportunity to develop your knowledge of law and regulation, technical understanding of construction and business skills relating to building control through work shadowing and supervised tasks dealing with service requests and customer enquiries, examining plans for compliance with building regulations and undertaking construction site inspections.
Who we are looking for ?
You should have a keen interest in the construction, buildings and surveying with a desire to complete a degree qualification in this sector while gaining valuable work experience which complements your studies.
You will need good organisational skills, able to manage tasks to meet a range of priorities and deadlines, have good communication skills, and can work well as part of a team.
