Christmas Opening Hours

High Heaton Library will close on Tuesday 24 December at 2pm and will reopen in the New Year on Thursday 2 January at 10am

The library is open for:

  • browsing and borrowing a wide range of books including fiction and non-fiction for adults and children;
  • printing and photocopying;
  • using a public computer and scanner for up to three-hours a day;
  • free WiFi;
  • reserving stock including books, DVDs, toys and board games; 
  • advice on using our BorrowBox app to browse our eBooks, eAudiobooks and eMagazines 
  • freephone to other council services.

The public computers are automatically turned off 15 minutes before closing time.

Access

Access to High Heaton Library is on ground floor with level access and automatic doors. We have a freephone to other council services and public computers where you can self-serve other council services. We have free Wi-Fi access, two public toilets (one with disabled access) and a hot drinks vending machine.

At High Heaton Library we have:

  • Nearby bus stops on Newton Road for travelling in both directions.
  • Cycle racks outside of the library.
  • Limited parking is available on local streets near the building. Check the signage for the length of time you can park.
  • Designated disabled parking bays directly outside the building for use by Blue Badge holders.

 All our public PCs have access to large print text for visually impaired users and we have a hearing loop to assist in communicating with hearing impaired people.

Did you know?

High Heaton Library's Canny Crafters meet every Tuesday from 11am to 12 noon for crafting and a chat; to share skills and ideas in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. 

 

High Heaton have weekly children's activities: under 5s story time on Thursday at 10.30am and a Lego Club for children of all ages, every Saturday from 11am!

 

You can borrow books, audiobooks, board games and DVDs for free. You can read eBooks, Audiobooks and eMagazines for free on your device, wherever you are using the Borrowbox app!
