Newcastle City Council as the "Licensing Authority" licence premises where gambling is to take place, licence certain other activities and register small society lotteries. The Gambling Commission licences the operators and individuals involved in providing gambling and betting facilities.
The Statement of Principles sets out how we intend to approach this duty.
Statement of Principles
Under Section 349 of The Gambling Act 2005, all Local Authorities are required to produce a Statement of Principles. The Gambling Act requires Local Authorities to review, approve and publish a new Statement of Principles every three years.
The current Statement of Principles 2025-2028 came into force on 27th February 2025. In addition to on line access the document can also be inspected between 9:00am and 4:00pm, by prior arrangement, at the Licensing Authority, Public Safety and Regulation, Civic Centre, Newcastle upon Tyne NE1 8QH.
