Ongoing disruption

Argyle Street

The bridge at Argyle Street, over the railway line, is closed to traffic. 

Please access Argyle Street car park via New Bridge Street.

Blandford Square

Three of the pay and display bays at Blandford Square car park are being converted into electric vehicle charging point bays.

Eldon Garden 

The electric vehicle charging points are due to be replaced, so in the interim period there may be periods where existing electric vehicle charging points are out of service.  

Grainger Town multi-storey car park

The electric vehicle charging points are due to be replaced, so in the interim period there may be periods where the existing electric vehicle charging points are out of service.

Saville Place

Until 30 June 2025 13 pay and display bays in Saville Place car park have been reserved by Newcastle City Council for a storage area in the car park for a contractor working on Northumberland Street.    

Terrace Place South

From 5 August 2024 until 21 August 2026 there will be reduced capacity of pay to park bays in Terrace Place South car park due to the demolition of a building and then the rebuilding of the building.

Temporary disruption

Leazes Park Road 

On January 14 there will be reduced capacity of pay to park bays in Leazes Park Road car park due to a reservation being in place for a television company. 

Eldon Garden 

On January 15 there will be extended opening times in Eldon Garden multi storey car park, the multi storey car park will remain open until 11.00 pm due to a match day event taking place at St James Park.

Eldon Square 

On January 15 there will be extended opening times in Eldon Square multi storey car park, the multi storey car park will remain open until 11.00 pm. 

Leazes Park Road 

On January 15 all parking bays in Leazes Park Road car park will be reserved by a television company covering a match day event at St James Park.

Manors 

On January 15 there will be extended opening times in Manors multi storey car park, the multi storey car park will remain open until 11.00 pm due to a match day event takeing place at St James Park.

The Garage at The Helix 

On January 15 there will be extended opening times in The Garage multi storey car park, the multi storey car park will remain open until 11.00 pm due to a match day event takeing place at St James Park.

Close Swing Bridge

On January 18 between 8.00 am to 11.00 am there will be no access into or exit our of Close Swing Bridge car park due to a road closure being in operation to support the Newcastle 10km run event.

Forth Banks

On January 18 between 8.00 am to 11.00 am there will be no access into or exit out of Forth Banks car park due to a road closure being in operation to support the Newcastle 10km run event.

Guildhall

On January 18 between 6.00 am to 11.00 am there will be no access into or exit out of Guildhall car park due to a road closure being in operation to support the Newcastle 10km run event.

Whilst the road closure is in operation, permit holders on this day will be allowed to park in pay to park bays within an off street car park or multi storey car park operated by Newcastle City Council.  

Merchants House 

On January 18 between 8.00 am to 11.00 am there will be no access into or exit out of Merchants House car park due to a road closure being in operation to support the Newcastle 10km run event.

Quayside

On January 18 between 6.00 am to 11.00 am access into and exit out of Quayside multi storey car park will only be via City Road.

Ellison Place East 

Until January 22 2 disabled bays in Ellison Place East car park, the disabled bays are the first 2 bays closest to Durant Hall have been reserved for skips. 

St James Park Stadium car park 

The Stadium car park will be unavailable due to a match day event(s) taking place at St James Park on:    

• January 12

• January 15 

• January 18

• February 1

• February 5

• February 23 

   

Weather related disruption

During winter weather conditions multi storey car park roof sections may be closed at:

• Eldon Garden
• Eldon Square
• Grainger Town 

These closures are to keep people safe.  

When roof levels are closed notices will be put up to advise drivers.

During these closures season ticket permit holders can park in pay and display bays on lower levels of these car parks.
