Argyle Street

The bridge at Argyle Street, over the railway line, is closed to traffic. 

Please access Argyle Street car park via New Bridge Street.

Blandford Square

Three of the pay and display bays at Blandford Square car park are being converted into electric vehicle charging point bays. 

Close Swing Bridge

From 14  April 2025 until 05 December 2025 19 pay to park bays and 2 disabled bays in Close Swing Bridge car park have been reserved by a construction company.      

Guildhall 

From 01 May 2025 until 31 December 2026 4 bays in the Guildhall car park have been reserved by the Structures section of Newcastle City Council in connection with the Tyne Bridge repairs that are being carried out on the bridge.  

Saville Place

Until 30 June 2025 13 pay and display bays in Saville Place car park have been reserved by Newcastle City Council for a storage area in the car park for a contractor working on Northumberland Street.    

Terrace Place South

From 05 August 2024 until 21 August 2026 there will be reduced capacity of pay to park bays in Terrace Place South car park due to the demolition of a building and then the rebuilding of the building.

Temporary disruption

Close swing Bridge 

From April 21 until May 6, 3 pay to park bays in Close swing Bridge car park have been reserved by a Traffic Management company. 

Forth Banks

From March 16 until April 11 10 pay to park bays in Forth Banks car park have been reserved for vehicles and equipment by a contractor working on behalf of Northumbrian Water. 

Guildhall 

On April 23 between 5.30 pm to 9.00 pm all parking bays in the Guildhall car park will be suspended due to a road closure being in operation to support a 5km run event.

On April 26 all parking bays in the Guildhall car park have been reserved in connection with the Beyond run event.

Whilst the car park is closed permit holders will be allowed to park in a pay to park bay in any off street or multi storey car park operated by Newcastle City Council.  

Leazes Park Road

On April 13 there will be reduced capacity of pay to park bays in Leazes Park Road car park due to a reservation being in place for a television company covering a match day event at St James Park.

St James Park Stadium car park 

The Stadium car park will be unavailable due to a match day event(s) taking place at St James Park on:     

• April 13

• April 16

• April 26

• May 25

St Nicholas Avenue

On April 20 4 pay to park bays in St Nicholas Avenue car park have been reserved to allow for sewer cleansing work to be carried out.
 

Weather related disruption

During winter weather conditions multi storey car park roof sections may be closed at:

• Eldon Garden
• Eldon Square
• Grainger Town 

These closures are to keep people safe.  

When roof levels are closed notices will be put up to advise drivers.

During these closures season ticket permit holders can park in pay and display bays on lower levels of these car parks.
