Confirmation of compliance with planning conditions or obligations
Confirmation of compliance with planning conditions or obligations
After planning permission is granted, there may be conditions or planning obligations that must be met. Applicants often need to submit information to show they’ve met these.
You can check if an applicant has sent information for a specific condition or planning obligation by searching our website.
Applications will be recorded using the first part of the original planning reference, with a sequential number at the end such as:
Original reference: 1900/0001/01/DET
Follow on applications: 1900/0001/02/DCC, 1900/0001/03/APO etc.
Requesting written confirmation
You can request to confirm in writing if a condition or planning obligation linked to a planning permission has been met.
Requests for confirmation of compliance should be submitted in writing. You will need to provide the following details:
- the original planning application number
- a plan showing the application site
- details of the conditions/obligations you would like information about
- your contact details
Application fees
The application fees are as follows:
| Type of application | Fee |
|---|---|
| Household developments – this is for development affecting a single dwelling only (such as an extension). It does not include conditions relating to applications for a new dwelling or a dwelling built as part of a larger development site. | £86 |
| Conditions relating to all other development | £298 |
| Planning obligations | £50 |
Please note that the application fee is per request. You can ask for information about more than one condition or obligation in the same request.
If you are seeking advice on both conditions and obligations, we’ll charge a combined fee.
We will aim to deal with these applications within 8 weeks.
You should email your application to planning.control@newcastle.gov.uk.
What we can confirm
We can only give advice on conditions or obligations that require details to be sent to the Council for approval.
Our response is given without prejudice. This means it does not affect any ongoing duties linked to the condition or obligation.
For example, if a developer has sent the required information for a condition, we can confirm that. But we cannot say whether they have complied with ongoing implementation and maintenance of the works approved.
