You're Welcome
You’re Welcome is an accreditation scheme that helps to improve health and youth services for young people aged 11 to 19. This helps young people stay healthy as they are more likely to visit health services that can help and support them.
To be awarded You’re Welcome health services look at:
- How young people can help improve the service
- How young people find out about the service and make appointments
- How the service keeps things private
- What training is offered to staff
- If staff are friendly and understand young people’s needs
- How staff work with other services to help and support young people to be healthy
Services that have achieved You’re Welcome include:
- School nurses
- Hospital based services
- Sexual health clinics
- General practice (GP services)
- Charities such as Children North East and Streetwise
The Public Health team lead on You’re Welcome in Newcastle. This involves:
- Training staff from services that wish to achieve You’re Welcome
- Training young people to visit and award services You’re Welcome
- Training workers to visit and award services You’re Welcome
