Modeshift STARS - School Travel Plans

Modeshift STARS - School Travel Plans

Modeshift STARS is a National Award for School Travel Plans, established to recognise schools that have demonstrated excellence in supporting cycling, walking and other forms of sustainable travel. Schools register for the scheme and work towards achieving 3 levels of award, Bronze, Silver and Gold.

A School Travel Plan is a living document which promotes sustainable travel. It can assist in addressing traffic issues around a school as well as satisfying planning conditions for new or expanding schools. The Road Safety Team can support the school with their plan delivering education and training. In some cases, engineering interventions may be necessary and this would be developed in partnership with the school community, Ward Members and Council Officers.

The Modeshift STARS website www.modeshiftstars.org provides lots of information on the scheme together with information and resources.

Throughout their involvement with Modeshift STARS schools can access support and guidance from the Road Safety Team when needed.
