All utility and local authority works do at times include major schemes which are those works planned in advance where there is the potential for disruption due to the location or scale of the works. They can be linked to a variety of funding organisations, including regional and central government funding or aligned to third party development and infrastructure works
These works have to be managed separately and at Newcastle we encourage a working together approach to ensure that all those who need to know about the works do know- this include Councillors, MP’s, residents, local businesses, bus companies and emergency services.
Communication plays a key role and we hold monthly meetings with the utility companies, contractors, our own internal officers to discuss various site issues or events which may impact on the works. Our staff have a vast local knowledge and by sharing of information and discussions we hope to alleviate the potential for disruption.
