Working near Trees

Trees play an important role in our landscape and as a council we need to ensure that we protect this asset. Works promoters need to be aware of trees and tree roots and any impact the works may have on the trees structure and also the rooting system.  There are also times when the canopy of the trees may be interfering with the cabling and again any works to cut back branches should be carried out to ensure compliance with guidelines. There is a British Standard for tree work BS3998 and it is recommended that all works carried out by utility companies comply with this.
