Advice on changes made to the State Pension in 2016 is also available on the Age UK website.

Pension Credit

Pension Credit gives you extra money to help with your living costs if you’re over state pension age and on a low income. It can also help with housing costs such as ground rent or service charges.

Information about Pension Credit is available on the Government website.

To find out if you are eligible for Pension Credit, and how much you might get, use the Government's Pension Credit calculator.

Pension age housing benefit

People of State Pension age may also be able to claim Housing Benefit.

Find out more on the Government's Housing Benefit eligibility advice page.

Attendance Allowance

Attendance Allowance helps with extra costs if you have a disability severe enough that you need someone to help look after you.

Information about Attendance Allowance can be found on the Government website

Disability Living Allowance and Personal Independence Payments

Disability Living Allowance has been replaced by Personal Independence Payments.

If you were aged 65 or over on the 8 April 2013 you will have remained on Disability Living Allowance. You will need to continue to meet the entitlement conditions. You do not need to claim a Personal Independence Payment.

People who make a new claim when they are aged 65 or pension age now will be considered under Attendance Allowance.
