Check your bin day
An easy way to check which bin day it is would be to see which bins you neighbours have put out.
New builds
If you are in a new build or part of new development you should phone 0191 278 7878 and ask for "Your Local Services" to check your collection days. This is because it can take some time for new build addresses and postcodes to get updated.
Bank holidays
There can be revisions to bin collections on bank holidays depending on the day of the week they fall.
Any changes will be shown on the calendars provided. We will also provide an update via our social media channels nearer the time.
Christmas 2024 and New Year 2025
If your collection day is normally on a Wednesday, due to Christmas Day and Boxing Day your bin will be emptied on Friday 27 December instead.
For New Years Day your bin will be emptied the next day, on Thursday 2 January.

Brown bin calendars are provided on the sign up documentation you receive when you join the scheme.

You can also find out your bin days by registering with the WasteBot. Text 'waste' to this number 07492 880069 and then follow the instructions as the WasteBot texts you back.
