Referendum

The City Council considers that the Plan, as modified, meets the basic conditions as set out in paragraph 8(2) of Schedule 4B to the Town and Country Planning Act 1990 and that the Plan complies with provisions made by or under sections 38A and 38B of the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004. Accordingly, the Plan may proceed to referendum. The City Council is satisfied that the referendum area shall be the Dinnington Parish Neighbourhood Area which comprises the civil parish of Dinnington.

The Referendum version of the Plan and related documents are available below:

A referendum on the Neighbourhood Plan was held on Thursday 22 May 2025. The declaration of result is set out below:

Following the successful referendum result, the policies within the plan will now be afforded full weight in decision-making.

Following the successful referendum, the Dinnington Parish Neighbourhood Plan was formally 'made' by Newcastle City Council on 2 June 2025 and now forms part of the statutory development plan. Consequently, decisions on whether or not to grant planning permission in the Parish will need to be made in accordance with the Dinnington Parish Neighbourhood Plan unless material considerations indicate otherwise.

A decision statement confirming that the Plan has been made and brought into legal force has now been published.
