All Reception offers for late applications will be sent out manually before 4pm on 6 June 2023.
In this area you can find how to apply for a school place. There are five occasions when a child may need to make an application for schools:
- Reception - Starting school

Starting: September 2023
If your child is born between 1 September 2018 and 31 August 2019 you can apply for a reception place for September 2023.
- Transfer - Moving from First to Middle school

Starting: September 2023
If your child is in year 4 in a first school you need to apply for a middle school for year 5
- Transfer - Moving from Primary to Secondary school

Starting: September 2023
If your child is in year 6 in a primary school you need to apply for a secondary school for year 7
- Transfer - Moving from Middle to High school

Starting: September 2023
If your child is in year 8 in a middle school you need to apply for the high school for year 9
- In Year - Other applications to change school

If you have moved to the area or want to change schools at any time other than the above, you need to make an in-year application. Please click on the link for more information.
If you are sponsoring a Ukrainian family, please contact school admissions before completing a form.
Newcastle co-ordinates in-year admissions for all schools in the city (Reception to Year 11) except independent schools and North East Futures UTC.
Apply directly to the school for:
- Nursery places
- Sixth form places
- North East Futures UTC
- Independent schools
