Central Motorway and Stamfordham Road
We have been working to develop improvements to the east-bound bus route between Druridge Drive and Cowgate junction on Stamfordham Road and the route between Fenham Hall Drive and the Central Motorway on Grandstand Road. We invite you to have your say on these proposals.
We propose installing a new section of bus lane on Stamfordham Road, a new section of bus lane on Grandstand Road, and some improvements to the slip road junction from the Central Motorway onto Grandstand Road.
You can view the drawings of these plans (PDF) and changes to the current layout include:
A new section of east-bound bus lane on Stamfordham Road between Druridge Drive and Cowgate junction.
Increase the size of parking laybys on that stretch by removing some of the existing buildouts.
A new section of bus lane on Grandstand Road from its junction with Fenham Hall Drive on the approach to the central motorway.
Improvements to the junction of the slip road off the central motorway to Grandstand Road.
You have until Sunday 9 March 2025 to have your say on these plans by emailing your comments to transport@newcastle.gov.uk, or arranging an appointment to share your feedback.
We will use your comments to inform any changes to our proposed plans and we will publish more information online with final plans going to Cabinet later in 2025.
