Shared Use Bays

 In some locations, mainly within the city centre, some parking bays have been designated for two different users at certain times. These users include disabled badge holders, taxis, goods vehicles, motorcycles, permit holders and pay and display ticket holders.

The bays will have 2 separate signs on the same signpost and each individual sign will advise which type of motorist is allowed to park in the bay at a specified time.

There will be no wording on the road surface due to the change in the restrictions and times.

The shared use sign designated for taxis and disabled badges. The first part of the sign is yellow with the no waiting symbol and states ‘No waiting 6.30pm – 8am except taxis’. Underneath is the standard disabled sign which has a picture of the disabled wheelchair symbol and states ‘Disabled badge holders only 8am – 6.30pm’

 

The shared use sign in use for taxis and goods vehicles loading only, the first part of the sign is yellow with a no waiting symbol and states ‘No waiting 6.30pm – 8am except taxis’. Underneath is the standard goods vehicle loading sign which has a picture of loading/unloading symbol and states ‘Goods vehicle loading only 8am – 6.30pm’

 

The shared use sign in use for goods vehicles loading only and taxis, the first part of the sign is the standard goods vehicle loading sign which has a picture of the loading/unloading symbol and states ‘Goods vehicle loading only Mon - Fri 8am – 6.30pm’, the second part of the sign has a picture of a motorcycle and states Sat & Sun 8am 6.30pm 

 

The shared use sign in use for permit holders and pay and display ticket holders. The sign states ‘8am – 6.30pm Permit holders or Pay By Phone or Pay at machine’ The sign then advises ‘6.30pm – 8am Permit holders only’

 

The shared use sign in use for taxis and pay and display users, the first part of the sign is yellow with a no waiting symbol and states ‘No waiting 6.30pm – 8am except taxis’. Underneath is the sign which advises payment can be made by pay by phone or at the machine and that there is a maximum stay of 2 hours

If a motorist parks in a dual use bay during the times when the restrictions on the sign post do not match their vehicle, a Penalty Charge Notice (PCN) will be issued by a Civil Enforcement Officer (CEO).
